Employer: How to promote the 'Freedom to ride' scheme

In June 2019 the Department for Transport (DfT) updated their cycle to work guidance; making it acceptable for employees to request a Certificate of any value via the cycle to work scheme. This means that riders can now save money and spread the cost on the total value of any Cyclescheme package.

Cyclescheme launched it's new Freedom to ride scheme design to enable employers to make an even bigger impact on their levels of employee cycling. The new scheme does mean there are one or two simple changes employers need to make when promoting Cyclescheme:
  1. Employers must only use Cyclescheme authorised marketing materials
  2. Employers must not co-brand their marketing material or position the scheme as 'their' cycle to work scheme; instead - it is simply 'Cyclescheme'
  3. Employers should not give advice on the scheme and simply direct employees to review Cyclescheme marketing material
