What happens if I go on maternity, paternity or agreed unpaid leave?
If you are absent from work during the Hire Period (for example where you take maternity/paternity leave or unpaid leave), the salary reduction will continue to be applied during the period of absence, as long as the payments do not take your salary below National Minimum Wage. As such the deductions also cannot be taken when in receipt of statutory maternity pay, paternity, adoption, shared parental and sick pay only.
On your return to work when your salary increases, your employer will recommence the payments to cover the period of unpaid leave and extend the Salary Sacrifice Agreement accordingly.
