Why am I waiting for my certificate?

If you are waiting for your eCertificate to land in your inbox there could be a few reasons for this. The first thing you should do is log into MyCyclescheme and check your application status (information on this here).

If your status is at requested, it might be wise to contact your boss or HR department and ask them if they've had a chance to review your request. If you are part of a large organisation that uses a benefits provider or has specific benefits enrolment windows it may just be that your employer will process all requests at the end of their benefits enrolment period.

If your status is approved but waiting for payment, this means your request has been greenlit and that we've invoiced for your bike. Our payment terms are immediate however different businesses move at different speeds so you may need to practice a little patience here. There are a handful of ways that employers fund schemes; some funding is reliant on third-party finance for example. Where this is the case the release of Certificates may take a little longer than normal. Generally, it's wise to wait 7-14 days before chasing your boss, HR or finance team. However, a polite note to one of the above may be useful if you want to make sure all is well and get an update on a likely Certificate delivery date. Once your employer’s payment has cleared our bank (please note BACS payments take 3 working days to clear) it takes us up to one business day (i.e. excluding weekends) to process payment and release your certificate.

On average it takes 3-10 days from your request to getting your Certificate (and your bike!) but this can vary based on scheme set up and some external variables. Please exercise a little patience, then get in touch with Cyclescheme or your workplace if you need more information or support.

What's the difference between a certificate and an eCertificate

  • A certificate is a physical certificate with a redemption code printed on it that is sent either to your employer, your work address or your home address. We process very few physical certificates these days.
  • An eCertificate is an electronic certificate that is emailed to your chosen email address.

Both enable you to collect your Cyclescheme package. Most employers (over 95%) now opt to use eCertificates due to their convenience and reduced environmental impact.
